If you missed the shipping cutoffs, the best last-minute Christmas gifts arrive by email or get picked up in person the same day. The list covers tickets and experiences, gift subscriptions, gift cards, same-day photo prints and things you make yourself. Pick a gift that names a plan or a memory, then present it with a printed card or a scheduled send so it doesn't feel like an afterthought.

First, how late is too late to ship?

For delivery by December 25 within the lower 48 states, USPS recommends sending by December 17 for Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail, December 18 for Priority Mail, and December 19 for Priority Mail Express. Alaska, Hawaii, international and military addresses have earlier dates, so check the USPS holiday page for those.

After those dates, shipping is a gamble. Every gift below arrives by email, text or link, or you pick it up yourself. For a few (the books, the coffee, the Goldbelly food), the gift lands on time but the physical part ships after they redeem it.

Experiences and tickets

Pick one that points at a specific evening, show or class, so they don't have to plan it from scratch.

Fandango + Olive Garden
No. 1Couples and parents who never get a night out

Dinner and a Movie Gift Card Combo

$50one $25 Fandango card plus one $25 Olive Garden cardat Fandango

It is a whole evening in one gift: both cards arrive together in a single email, so there is nothing to coordinate. A movie on Christmas Day or the slow week after is an easy plan to say yes to.

Good to know. Check that an Olive Garden is near them before you buy.

Ticketmaster
No. 2The friend who goes to every show

Ticketmaster E-Gift Card

$25from; any amount from $25 to $1,000at Ticketmaster

Concert and theatre dates for next year are often announced well before Christmas, so you can pair the card with a specific show you think they would love. It covers music, comedy, theatre, family attractions and sports, which keeps it useful if your guess is wrong.

Good to know. Ticketmaster says it is good for events across the U.S., so check that the venue or show they love actually sells through Ticketmaster.

The Museum of Modern Art
No. 3New Yorkers, or anyone visiting NYC next year

MoMA Annual Pass (gift)

$75per yearat MoMA

A year of unlimited admission, free film tickets and store discounts turns one present into many afternoons. MoMA lets you email the activation code straight to them on a date you pick, or to yourself so you can write it inside a card.

Good to know. It is only useful if they can get to Manhattan. MoMA's FAQ says the code is valid for a year and membership starts when it is redeemed.

Cozymeal
No. 4Food lovers and couples who want a night out

Cozymeal Gift Card

$50from; preset amounts up to $500at Cozymeal

It covers in-person cooking classes, private chefs, food tours and online cooking and mixology classes, so it still fits if they live somewhere with few local classes. You choose email or print delivery at checkout, which makes it easy to hand over in person.

Good to know. Cozymeal says its gift cards never expire. Class availability depends on their city, so check before you pick an amount.

Write the plan into your card. "Dinner and the new movie on the 27th, I'll book the babysitter" beats a code in an inbox.

Things you make or write

These cost you an evening, not a delivery date. An Adorvi keepsake holds photos, a letter and a song, and Storyworth turns a year of weekly answers into a hardcover book.

No. 5The best last-minute gift for partners, best friends and family you can't be with this yearOur product

Adorvi personalized digital keepsake

$8.99per gift, no subscriptionat Adorvi

You add up to 12 photos, a letter in your own words and a song into a private page that opens on their phone or computer behind a passcode. Most people finish in 10 to 20 minutes, and you preview the whole thing before paying, then send a link or a QR code.

Good to know. It is digital only, with nothing to unwrap, and it needs your photos and your words to work. It stays up for a year (longer on request).

Start a gift

It's the best last-minute option on this list if you have photos together, because it's finished and sent the same evening. Open the example that matches who it's for: a partner, a best friend, your mom or your dad. Start a gift here and preview the whole thing before you pay.

Storyworth
No. 6Parents and grandparents with stories to tell

Storyworth

Starting at$69at Storyworth

Storyworth's FAQ says one-year gifts can be delivered by email the same day, and you can print a gift card at home. They get a weekly question for a year, and their answers become a hardcover book.

Good to know. The book is the payoff a year later, and Storyworth says standard book shipping takes about 10 business days after ordering.

Libby gives free ebooks and audiobooks from thousands of public libraries. The gift is the setup: help them get a card, install the app and put three books on hold, then write a note about why you picked them.

Skip the national park pass: the new digital America the Beautiful national park passes look like an instant gift, but Recreation.gov says digital passes may not be purchased as gifts. If you want to give one, you need a physical pass, which means shipping or an in-person visit.

Goldbelly
No. 13Someone who misses the food from their hometown

Then do the free part: pick three books you think they would love, or the Goldbelly restaurant from the city they grew up in, and list them in your note.

Same-day local pickup

If you want something physical and it's December 23 or the morning of the 24th, Walgreens and CVS photo counters are a good bet. You design online, the store prints it, and you collect it the same day.

8.5x11 Custom Cover Photo Book, Same Day Pickup

Starting at$39.99at Walgreens

A printed hardcover of your photos that you design online and collect at a local store the same day. That makes it one of the few physical keepsakes you can still make on December 23 or 24.

How to present a digital gift so it doesn't feel last-minute

Left alone, a digital gift shows up as an automated email from a no-reply address. Five ways to fix that:

Print something to hand over. Several gifts above offer a printable card (Book of the Month, Trade Coffee, Cozymeal, Storyworth). If yours does not, print the confirmation or redemption page, fold it into a card, and write a real note on the inside.

Put a QR code in the stocking. If the gift is a link, turn it into a QR code, print it on a small card and tuck it in a stocking, a book or a coat pocket. Adorvi gives you a QR code for this. For other links, a free QR code generator makes one.

Time the reveal. Schedule the email for a specific time: Christmas morning, after dinner, or the minute they land. For long-distance gifts, agree on a time to open it together on a video call.

Pair it with something small and physical: a mug from the cupboard with a coffee gift, a box of popcorn with a movie card, or a bookmark with a book card. The small object is something to unwrap, and the digital gift becomes the surprise inside.

Write the plan. "Let's go see a show in spring" says more than "Ticketmaster gift card." Add a date and a reason where you can.

How we chose

We looked for gifts you can give without shipping before Christmas, from companies still selling them. Every pick needed a public page, a listed price and a clear explanation of how the gift reaches them. We favored gifts that let you name a plan or a memory over generic balances, and we noted the limitation we would want to know ourselves.

Prices and details were checked on the brands' own pages on October 21, 2026. Prices, promotions and availability change, especially in December, so confirm before you buy. No brand paid to be included. Adorvi is our own product, which is why we have kept it to one entry and listed its limits.

Questions people ask

What can I give for Christmas if it's too late to ship?

Choose a gift that arrives by email or link, or one you pick up locally the same day. Experiences, gift subscriptions with a printable card, specific gift cards, same-day photo prints and things you make yourself all work. Then hand over a printed card or schedule the email, so it doesn't land as a bare code.

When is the last day to ship for Christmas in 2026?

USPS recommends December 17 for Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail, December 18 for Priority Mail and December 19 for Priority Mail Express, for delivery by December 25 in the lower 48 states. Other destinations have earlier dates on the USPS holiday page.

How do I make an e-gift card feel personal?

Tie it to one specific plan and write that plan in a card you hand over. Add something small and physical, like a mug with a coffee subscription. Schedule the email for a specific time, like Christmas morning.

Can I schedule a digital gift to arrive on Christmas morning?

Many can. Libro.fm, Trade Coffee, MoMA, Bookshop.org and Goldbelly all let you pick a delivery date. If a gift sends instantly, have it emailed to yourself and pass it on when you're ready.

What is a good last-minute gift for someone far away?

Pick something that doesn't depend on their address or local stores, such as an audiobook gift, a gift card for food from their hometown, or a digital keepsake of your photos and a letter. Then plan to open it together on a video call.
